1975年12月1日，邓小平副总理以周恩来总理名义举行宴会，欢迎福特总统和夫人一行。
邓小平在祝酒辞中说：“上海联合公报是一个独特的国际文件。这一公报的发表符合两国人民的共同愿望，而且符合世界人民的利益，在国际上产生了深远的影响。”
福特表示：“我们将探索共同点，并且谋求在双方观点分歧的地方增进谅解，我们将继续坚定地致力于在《中国联合公报》的基础上建立我们两国正常关系。”
On December 1,1975,Vice-Premier Deng Xiaoping hosted a banquet on behalf of Premier Zhou Enlai in honour of President Gerald Ford and his wife.
In his toast,Deng Xiaoping said:"The Shanghai Joint Communique is a unique international document. Its publication is not only consistent with the common wishes of the people of both countries but also consistent with the interests of the people throughout the world. It has produced a far-reaching influence in the world."
Ford said:"We will seek common ground,and stive to promote understanding onver where the views from both side differ.We will continue to work unswervingly for the establishment of normal relations between our two countries on te basis of Shanghai Joint Communique."
