1993年11月19日至20日，应美国总统克林顿的邀请，中国国家主席江泽民赴美国西雅图出席亚太经济合作组织领导人非正式会议。19日，江泽民主席和克林顿总统举行正式会晤。江泽民主席指出，中美两个大国是在世界上有影响的国家，在许多重大问题上有共同利益。中美之间增加信任，可以在国际上发挥积极作用。
At the invitation of US President Bill Clinton, Chinese President Jiang Zemin went to Seattle, the United States, to attend the Informal APEC Leadership Meeting on November 19-20, 1993. On November 19, President Jiang and President Clinton held a formal meeting. President Jiang pointed out that China and the United States are two major countries influential in the world and share common interests on many major issues. He said an enhanced mutual trust would help both China and the United States play a positive role in the world affairs.
