RESUME OF MR OLEG YAKOVLEV
Oleg Nikolayevich Yakovlev was born in 1948. Graduated from the History and Philology Department of the Institute of Asian and African Studies under the Moscow State University where he studied Uigur and Mandarin as well as Chinese history and culture. Has been with our Chinese-language service since 1977 and h as for many years been preparing programs about Soviet and Russian cultural life for our Chinese listeners. Oleg Yakovlev has sat on many juries of Voice of Russia listeners’ quizzes.
In 1992 Oleg Yakovlev was appointed head of the Chinese service of the Voice of Russia’s Asia department and since 1998 he has been running our entire Asian service. Has been to China several times taking part in cooperation-boosting talks between Radio Voice of Russia and Chinese Radio International, was a member of jury in International musical festival “Shanghai spring” in Shanghai, take part in international conference “English by radio” in Henan.
