Really sad and unfortunate incident. I hope the best for the injured and May the souls of those died rest in peace... I witnessed the October 8 2005 earthquake in Northern Pakistan which killed more than 73,000 people. It is really so sad to witness an earthquake on this big scale again this time in China... My prayers are always with the brave Chinese People!

Our thoughts are with the Chinese people, particularly the families and friends of the victims, at this terrible time. May the rescue operations go as smoothly and fortunately as possible, and keep my fingers crossed for those still trapped under debris.

As a foreigner resident in China and someone who has been warmly welcomed by the Chinese people I want to say how saddened I am by this tragedy. Doubly so because a few months ago my family and I were in the area to visit the Panda reserve at Woolong. I was glad to see that the authorities have responded so swiftly and I wish them the very best in their efforts to free those who still remain trapped.

I lived one full year in the town of Wenchuan, teaching at Aba Teacher's College, in 2006-2007. In July 2007 I returned to Europe. I am now in Brussels. I cannot say how sad and worried I am, I have so many wonderful friends, and I know so many nice people there. I visited unique Qiang villages, many centuries old, and travelled through the steep roads bordering mountain rivers. I have very happy memories, and now this... If I can do anything to help, If you know anything about Aba Teachers College, about Wenchuan town, about nearby towns... please tell me.

The national disaster, called earthquake struck China today and we in India felt the tremors in our hearts. We were not only shocked but dumb stuck at the news as it unfolded hour by hour. We pray to God to give strength and courage to all of you to bear the losses of lives, we share the grief of your nation with the most heart felt sorrow. You are a nation of Glorious past and have been winner, despite many such and even bigger disasters .You have defied nature in many ways and we are sure that even this natural disaster will never bogged down the spirit of China, we are all together in your pursuit of Recovery. I would like to express my deepest sympathies for the loss of life and the destruction caused by this earthquake.
