MOSCOW (AP) _ How do pre-wedding jitters feel inzerogravity?

　　Cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko may be about to findout:TheInternational Space Station crewman plans to get marriedwhileinorbit this weekend, jilting superiors on Earth who accusedhimofshowboating and advised him to wait.

　　Malenchenko has retracted a promise to put his weddingoffuntilhis scheduled return in October and plans to tie theknotSunday _possibly linking up to the ceremony in Texas with aspecialphone,Russian Aerospace Agency spokesman Sergei GorbunovsaidTuesday.

　　Malenchenko told officials of his plans to marryEkaterinaDmitrievafter reaching the space station in April,floutingSoviet-era rulesrequiring military officers to getpermission tomarry foreigners andangering the air force chief,Col. Gen.Vladimir Mikhailov, whoreportedly said a ``cosmonautmustnt behavelike a movie star.

　　After officials told the cosmonaut the wedding wouldpresentlegalcomplexities back home, Malenchenko promised towait,according toGorbunov. But on Tuesday, Gorbunov saidMalenchenko hadchanged hismind _ and that the space agency was notgoing to argue.

　　``He wants it, and he will have it _ thats hisproblem,Gorbunovtold The Associated Press.

　　The cosmonaut and his fiancee were issued a marriagelicenselastmonth in her home state of Texas, which allows weddingsinwhich oneparty is not present.

　　While the groom wont be at his own wedding _ acircumstancethatnormally leads to tears _ he intends to call hisbride on aspecialphone from the space station, Gorbunov said.

　　However, Gorbunov said the call must be placedduringtimeallocated for contacts between the crew and theirrelatives,andthat it was unclear whether a slot would coincide withthewedding.NASA runs the International Space Station.

　　While the communications system allows in some casesforone-wayvideo communication _ those on Earth can see whatishappening onthe station but not vice versa _ Gorbunov didnotspecify whetherMalenchenko was planning a video linkup.

　　There was a hint: Malenchenko, who blasted off to thestationinlate April with American astronaut Edward Lu, quietlyarrangedtohave his tail coat and wedding ring flown to him aboardaProgresscargo ship that arrived at the station in June.

　　However, while Dmitriev has been trying to arrange toholdtheceremony at Johnson Space Center in Houston, wheretherearefacilities for a video linkup, NASA so far has notgivenpermission.

　　Malenchenko, a Russian air force colonel, has not givenareasonfor wanting to get married at such a distance, butsomeobserversbelieve the couple is seeking publicity.

　　Gorbunov said the unusual wedding might createproblemsforregistering the marriage with Russian authorities. Hewouldnotcomment on its potential effect on Malenchenkoscareer.

　　Gorbunov said the Russian space agencys chief, YuriKoptev,hadreceived an invitation to the wedding from Dmitriev, whocenterRussiafor the United States with her parents when she was 3andlives inHouston. He said Koptev was not planning to attendthereception ata Houston restaurant.

　　Malenchenko and Dmitriev met at a social gathering fiveyearsagoand began dating in 2002.

　　The bride and her family have denied Malenchenko everdecidedtopostpone the wedding.
