The eating custom and practice of the west is very particular. They eat almost everything with a fork. If it is absolutely necessary to use a knife, take the fork in left hand and cut off a piece of meat with the knife in right hand. Then put the knife down, transfer the fork to right hand, and transport the food to mouth. It appears that holding a knife in one’s right hand longer than a few seconds is considered to be against good table manners.
