The first batch of domestic self-driving patrol vehicles approved for road testing hit the road in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area on Tuesday, marking a significant step forward in the city's advanced autonomous driving development.

The patrol vehicles, on duty 24 hours a day, will serve in densely populated and key areas such as parks, subway stations, and commercial plazas. In case of emergencies, people can use the vehicles' interactive screens to request assistance.

Equipped with advanced features, the newly launched patrol cars boast a 360-degree multi-sensor fusion system, a detection range of 120 meters, and Level 4 autonomous driving technology. Their computing platforms are capable of performing 254 trillion operations per second, enabling real-time calculations based on road conditions, thereby ensuring the vehicles' safe navigation.

Currently, the Beijing High-Level Autonomous Driving Demonstration Area hosts 28 companies conducting tests, with over 800 self-driving vehicles actively involved in road testing and commercialization efforts. Collectively, these vehicles have amassed more than 20 million kilometers of test mileage.

At the same time, the demonstration area in Beijing's Economic and Technological Development Area has implemented various application scenarios. These include intelligent connected vehicles, logistics operations, autonomous cleaning services, and driverless delivery and patrol services.
